Woo hoo, it’s Birchbox unboxing time once again! This month, I opted for the curated box. The box — Pretty Mighty — honors Women’s History Month and features selections by Reese Witherspoon’s Southern-inspired lifestyle brand, Draper James. This month’s products are “powerful” and “high-performing,” just like the badass women in our lives!
This box really excites me because I love every product in it! Here, I’ll discuss my three favorites.
Even though I adore Davines products, I’ve posted on them quite a bit — including on the shampoo and conditioner samples included in this month’s box — so I won’t do so here. But don’t despair! You can read more about Davines in these posts: Davines? Divine!, Beauty Amplified, May 2016 Birchbox Unboxing, and All My Single Ladies, Treat Yo’self.
This month I was most pleasantly surprised by ARROW BOOST Color Enhancing Lip Balm. I’d been wanting to try this Birchbox brand for some time, but hadn’t gotten around to it. I have sensitive skin, so I can’t use lip balms that are too strong, too smelly, etc. This lip balm is mild and hydrating . . . and the color is great! It goes on fairly clear and then apparently works with your skin’s pH to create a flattering hue. On me, its a flattering soft pink (rare for me), perfect for a no makeup look or a neutral lip to compliment heavier eye makeup. It leaves my lips feeling so soft. LOVE!
I also really enjoyed trying Clarins Hydra-Essential Silky Cream (Normal to Dry Skin). I’ve been using this face cream the last few days and I love that this cream is both super hydrating and easily absorbed. It doesn’t feel greasy at all. I should point out that it has a bit of a perfumey smell, but it seems to fade pretty quickly.
The last product I’ll discuss is Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Face Primer. This is another one of those products that has a cult following that I’ve somehow never tried, so I was really excited to get to try it this month! This primer feels great on my skin. A tiny amount goes a long way. My pores aren’t quite as noticeable after application and my makeup went on smoothly. Definitely a solid primer!
